SUPPORT FOR THE “KICHWA PEOPLE OF PAKAYAKU

Since March, we have continued to provide humanitarian support for the reconstruction of the Kichwa people of Pakayaku, following the overflow and flooding of the Bobonaza River on 17 March. Between May and June, we have delivered:

Luzmila Gayas, president of Pakayaku, and community members receive the first delivery of pots.

  • Sets of 3 pots for 85 families.
  • Food for 30 families.
  • Materials for the reconstruction of 15 houses.

ADDRESSING THE COVID-19 HEALTH CRISIS

  • Posters on the prevention of Covid-19, placed at various points in the provinces of Pastaza and Orellana.
  • We delivered 500 food kits and 3000 masks to indigenous families in Pastaza and Orellana provinces.
  • Delivery of natural remedies, such as Ginger-Verbena extract, eucalyptus essential oil for inhalation (see videos).

CULTURE ECONOMY

Amazon Incense: Made from natural resources, a Florasana creation, with copal resin, palo santo, charcoal, yucca starch, eucalyptus and/or citronella essential oil; with an earthenware censer made by Kichwa women ceramists.


OUR CURRENT PROJECTS

·SACHA TAKI: “To keep the forests singing”: Support to the bio-cultural conservation project of the Kichwa organization “Pueblo Ancestral Kawsak Sacha”, located in the lower basin of the Kuraray River.

·SASAPI: Support to the new community “Sasapi”, of the Ancestral Kichwa Canelos Commune, for the construction of its life Plan. 

·SALUD PROPIA: A process of reflection with the Organization of Kichwa Communities of Arajuno, ACIA-AKAT, on the design and implementation of an Indigenous Health and Intercultural Program.
