Volunteer program
The Sacha Warmi Foundation is looking for volunteers to support its programs and projects in the Ecuadorian Amazon. More specifically, we are looking for volunteers in the following areas:
Health and Interculturality
– Conduct interviews with doctors, patients, midwives, shamans and other traditional medicine specialists to support the intercultural health projects of the Sacha Warmi Foundation.
– Support communities by making inventories of medicinal and other culturally important plants for their health programs and local health workers.
– Assist with project management.
Regeneration and conservation of ecosystems
– Assist biodiversity management programs in indigenous communities.
– Develop educational materials on environmental, cultural, health, food, ecology, conservation and other topics for the Sacha Warmi Foundation projects with the communities.
– To train in techniques for the production of seedlings and the sustainable management of plants, plant trees, reforest and regenerate deteriorated ecosystems.
– Assist with the maintenance and care of the nursery, the medicinal garden and the biocultural garden.
– Carry out landscaping work at the Sacha Warmi center.
– Assist with project management.
Entrepreneurship in communities
– Research innovative social and economic entrepreneurship and identify the leaders of these initiatives.
– Support organized groups in administration, accounting and management.
– Assist with project management.
Knowledge transfer and cultural awareness
– Help develop materials that can support the transmission of knowledge and cultural awareness (such as videos, booklets, brochures, games).
– Edit and review articles and blogs to share on our website and social networks. — Maintain and update the web page and Facebook pages.
– Update and energize Sacha Warmi’s social networks
– Assist with project management.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
- Have a university degree
- 20 years of age or older
- At least 6 month of work experience
- Previous experience in tropical regions
- Autonomous persons with initiative, flexible, participative, committed, creative, and with an interest and sensitivity towards indigenous cultures
- Minimum stay: 2 months
- Financial contribution from volunteers: $200/month for a comfortable accommodation, an equipped kitchen and internet.
